A burn is a moodboard or sketch that captures thoughts quickly in the artist's most comfortable posture. Ideas scale according to their emotional impact. The final sketch has the look of a layered graffitii wall. It's a messy thing. It stirs the pot of ideas. It's good trouble, as John Lewis would say...necessary trouble to its subversive core.
